Rev. Richard Root

Lead Pastor

With an undergraduate degree in Clinical Psychology and a Masters Degree in Divinity, Richard’s ministry has spanned the hospital, the academy, the denomination and the local church. Richard is past president of CBOQ (Canadian Baptists of Ontario and Quebec) and has served as a board member for Christian mission organizations, community agencies and academic institutions. But his first love and greatest joy has always been the local church.

He has served as MCBC’s Lead Pastor since 2011, where the best part of his job is seeing people come fully alive in Christ. When he is not busy with work or family he can be found indulging his love for the cinema, cycling, classical music and photography.

“Proclaim the message; be persistent whether the time is favorable or unfavorable; convince, rebuke, and encourage, with great patience and careful instruction.” - 2 Timothy 4:2
As a kid, what did you want to grow up to be?
A hockey player on a perennial underdog of a team. (What can I say... I'm a Toronto kid at heart)
Are you a morning person?
Mac or PC?
Movie or book?
Is it OK to wear socks with sandals?
Only during the winter!!
