VISION WEEKEND 2
Matthew 4:18-22

How and Why?
• A long time ago, somebody made this profound observation:
"He who has a 'why' to live for can bear almost any 'how.' ''
• There's only one "why" big enough to get you through any "how. " It came to the human race in the strangest way:
"As Jesus was walking beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw two brothers, Simon called Peter and his brother Andrew. They were casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 'Come, follow me,' Jesus said, 'and I will send you out to fish for people.' At once they left their nets and followed him."

The Vision: Unleashing the Power of Jesus in People's Lives
• We are a net-casting church. That's our great "why" —to love and call people into a new radically inclusive, stunningly redemptive community, centered in the message and person of Jesus.
• We're a three-chair church. We have a great past...that's one chair, we have a great present, and we have a great future. Psalm 78 says,
"...things our ancestors have told us... we will tell the next generation the praiseworthy deeds of the LORD, his power, and the wonders he has done." (Psalm 78:3-4)
• We're a Jesus church. We exist because over and over, people who often didn't have much of a "how" are driven by a compelling "why."
"A disciple is anyone whose ultimate goal is to live as Jesus would live if he were in their place."
