Children's Church and Family Sundays

E-mail Print PDF

Children's Church is a ministry to children ages 4 through 4th grade where we share prayer requests, play games, learn about heroes of the Christian faith, as well as clearly presenting the gospel. Children's Church meets in room 110 immediately following the music time of the worship gathering. Children are dismissed before the sermon to walk to the end of the hall in the main building for children's church. As the worship gathering ends, children are dismissed to find their parents either from room 110 or the playground.

However, on holidays and on the last Sunday of each month, families are able to spend a Sunday together for a special family time. On these Sundays, children will be able to hear a family-friendly sermon, experience the Lord's Table with their family, and witness baptisms together. Children's bulletins with a Bible lesson and activities are available each week.

So You Have a Preschooler...

E-mail Print PDF

We love preschoolers at MCBC. Not only do we have an amazingly gifted nursery coordinator, Geri Stiefel, and a hands-on preschool Sunday School class, we also offer TRAIN. TRAIN stands for the ministry we offer your child during the worship gathering. We seek to Teach, Reach, Affect, Inspire, and Nurture the preschoolers in our care.

As you arrive for the 10:45 worship gathering, friendly caregivers will receive your child in one of three classrooms. The Nursery (room 208) is available for very small children, the Walker room (room 206) is for those children who are more mobile, and the 2s-3s class (room 204) is for children in this age range. Each classroom has volunteers who have had a background check.  We want to offer a safe and caring environment for your child, as we teach them the seeds of the Christian faith.

Each child will need a diaper bag with diapers and a change of clothes, just in case. If your child needs a comfort item, such as a toy or a sippy cup, please label these items with the child's name. Also, please let the caregivers know if your child has any allergies or if you have any special instructions concerning your child.

Older preschoolers are invited to the music portion of the worship gathering and will be dismissed to Children's Church before the sermon begins. (For more information on Children's Church, see that article.)

Catching the Vision

One of the major aspects of the Lord Jesus Christ’s ministry on earth was His outreach to people with disabilities.  He   repeatedly extended invitations for individuals with disabilities to enter the kingdom of God through the gift of salvation.  Likewise, we who are Christians today are called to follow in our Lord’s footsteps in reaching out to people with disabilities.

Modeling Ministry

Disability ministry enables the church to serve as a model to the community for meeting the needs of people with disabilities:
  • Spiritually (through Bible study and discipleship)
  • Physically (building a ramp, providing transportation,  helping with errands)
  • Socially (friendships and doing activities together)
  • Emotionally (fulfillment and inner joy)

Disability ministry, no matter the size, remains the same: small ordinary acts of kindness expressed by one person to another are the building blocks to success.  The ultimate goal is that God is glorified in the eyes of both believers and unbelievers.
